.be domains
Transfer code by email, paid holder changes and the rules of DNS Belgium.
DNS Belgium manages the .be extension. Anyone may register a .be domain, including people and companies outside Belgium.

The transfer code arrives by email
For .be, the provider does not hold the transfer code. DNS Belgium sends the code directly to the holder's email address. This also applies at Knippin: when you click Request transfer code on a .be domain, you will see a message that the code has been sent to the holder.
You can also request the code yourself through the DNS Belgium WHOIS (dnsbelgium.be), using the button to request a transfer code.
- The code is valid for 7 days. After that, request a new one.
- Email not arriving? Then the holder's email address is probably wrong. Ask the current provider to correct it first. If they refuse, you can file a complaint with DNS Belgium.
Transferring to Knippin
Order the transfer with the code, as described in Transferring a domain to Knippin. The transfer goes through immediately. Note: for .be the registration restarts with one year from the transfer date. Any remaining time at the old provider is lost, so it is best to transfer shortly before the expiry date.
Holder changes cost money
For .be, a holder change works like a transfer: it also requires a transfer code emailed to the current holder. On top of that, DNS Belgium charges the rate of a new registration. The domain then runs for one year from the date of the change.
Want to change the holder of a .be domain? Create a ticket first. We will tell you the costs in advance.
Transfer lock
A .be domain can be locked against transfers. This is only allowed at the explicit request of the holder. Would you like this? Create a ticket.
Data checks
DNS Belgium actively checks whether holder details are correct. If your domain is selected, you will receive an email from DNS Belgium asking you to confirm your details. Until you do, the domain may stop working. If incorrect details are not fixed within 14 days, DNS Belgium can revoke the domain. So keep your details up to date: see Changing the holder or contact details.
