Setting up email on your computer or phone
The server settings for Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Android and iPhone.
Use these details to set up a mailbox from your web hosting package in any email app. When adding an account, choose manual setup or IMAP.
Settings
| Incoming (IMAP) | Outgoing (SMTP) | |
|---|---|---|
| Server | mail.voorbeeld.nl |
mail.voorbeeld.nl |
| Port | 993 |
465 (or 587) |
| Security | SSL/TLS | SSL/TLS (with port 587: STARTTLS) |
| Username | The full email address, for example info@voorbeeld.nl |
The same |
| Password | The mailbox password | The same |
Replace voorbeeld.nl with your own domain. Turn on authentication for the outgoing server (My outgoing server requires authentication), using the same details as incoming.
Getting a warning about an invalid certificate? Then the SSL certificate for
mail.yourdomain.comis not there yet, for example shortly after a transfer. Use the server name shown for your package in the customer panel instead, for exampleserver20.beheer.eu.
IMAP or POP3?
Choose IMAP. Your email stays on the server and you see the same folders on your computer, phone and in webmail. With POP3 (port 995), one device downloads the mail and other devices no longer see it.
Not working?
- Check that you use the full email address as the username.
- Test the password in webmail. Not working there either? Set a new password via E-mail Manager → E-mail Accounts.
- After too many failed login attempts, the server blocks your IP address for up to a day. Nothing works from your network anymore? Create a ticket and we will lift the block.
- Outgoing mail not arriving? Check what happened to the message in E-mail Tracking.
